About Ali

Once upon a time, long long ago, Ali Elizabeth Turner and her friends from Oberlin College tried to shut down Wright Patterson Air Force Base in protest to the war in Viet Nam.  As was common in the ’70’s,  she thought soldiers were “baby killers,” and had no respect for them, the military, or her freedom as an American woman.

More than three decades later she spent three years working and living side by side with her former objects of scorn,  and recorded all that transpired in A Ballad for Baghdad.  Life is full of second chances that we don’t deserve, and Ballad “sings” a song about Iraq that is unique.
